Cristiano Ronaldo’s private plane has crashed at Barcelona’s El Prat airport.
Fortunately the Real Madrid star was not on board at the time.
Reports from Spain suggest the landing gear broke on impact – and emergency services raced to the scene after the malfunction on Monday evening.
One of the runways was closed for a short time – and the piolt was treated for minor injuries.
The plane has a bathroom for ‘crew and passengers’, along with a wardrobe (essential for Ronnie), internet access, telephone, fax (for transfer business), microwave, electric oven (well you couldn’t make do with an Aga), a fridge for drinks and DVD player.
A source close to the former Manchester United star told MirrorFootball: “The plane is normally rented by companies and it was in use by one of them.
“Cristiano Ronaldo, his family or friends were not on the plane. The incident had no major consequences.”
Ronaldo was preparing for Madrid’s Champions League with Borussia Dortmund in Germany at the time.
