Nintendo to Double Production of Switch Console

Nintendo Co. has planned to double the production of its new hybrid Switch console for the year ending March 2018 due to strong demand, the Wall Street Journal reported.

As per the report, assemblers under contract with Nintendo would manufacture 16 million or more in the fiscal year starting April 2017, up from an initial plan for eight million.

Nintendo is believed to be able to sell significantly more than 10 million units during the 12-month period.

The Switch that went on sale globally on March 3 reportedly is on a similar track in its first year as Nintendo’s popular Wii system.
