A cream containing extract of this plant fully healed low back pain in only 5 days during the testing. The researchers examined 120 people with pain in the lower and upper back. On one half of the respondents was given a cream comfrey, while the other half was given a fake cream. None of the two groups were told what they use.

After five days the intensity of pain in people who were using fake cream decreased by 39 percent, and researchers explain this with the desire to feel better. But people who were using comfrey cream admitted that the pain decreased by 95 percent. Comfrey also acts very quickly, just an hour after the application.

The research was conducted by scientists at the German Sports University in Bonn, and the results were published in the British Journal of Sports Medina.
